Why Is My Computer Slow?
Have you ever asked yourself “Why Is My Computer Slow”? I think we all have from time to time. There are a number of reasons for this.
- Too many programs loading up at boot-up.
- Insufficient RAM or poor RAM management for the programs and processes we are running.
- The hard drive files are fragmented.
- Too many unwanted and unused files lurking around.
- Glorified effects used by your operating system.
- Too many unused programs bloating the system.
- Infestation of Spyware / Adware.
- Resource heavy anti-vitus/spyware software (especially one of the main software proveders!).
- Inefficient PageFile settings when you have more than one hard drive partition or hard drives.
- Too many un-needed Windows Services running.
- Un-optimized Windows registry
Now, the problems you are experiencing could be due to one or even all of the above. It is amazing the speed that can be achieved by simply sorting out these problems and undertaking a few tweaks of your PC’s operating system. Hey, your computer will perform just like the day you bought it!
Once that has been achieved, a weekly regime of maintenance will keep your computer running in tip top form. This would include:
- Deleteing computer generated unwanted files.
- Defragging your hard drives.
- Optimizing your PC’s registry.
- Updating your operating system and anti virus software.
You can buy software that will fix some of these problems but as there are so many available, how do you know which is the best, and best value, to go for. I was fortunate to find a “technophobe’s” guide that provided a simple step by step approach and provided the sources of great free software to cure these problems. I have never wondered why is my computer slow since. I will always be eternally grateful.
